We and the German work culture

or what did the students from the ISTITUTO DI ISTRUZIONE SUPERIORE "TENENTE REMO RIGHETTI" experienced during their 4-week traineeships in Berlin

Somebody once said, or had the thought, that “work” is something that you have to do, that it can’t be a pleasure or a possibility. Have you ever wondered, what does the word “work” mean? Wait, reflect!  It’s not so easy. “Work” is that thing that has the ability to make you happy and make you feel like being part of something. It’s not a “routine”.  It’s amazing when you have the luck to combine something that you really love doing, your dream, with your daily work as an employee. My name is not going to review to you who I am, maybe a girl or a woman, if you want, or maybe a man, but by the end of the day it doesn’t matter. If you are similar to me, you know what I mean, you know that sometimes words mean nothing. They say that the world belongs to us, because we, the young generation, are the future, but I don’t think so. Probably the world is just tired and wants to pass its own duties to somebody else and the thing is, that we want to play this game. We want  to try with our skin what it feels like being an adult. That’s why we are in Berlin, where the working experience is different from any other part of the world.

R.S.P.S.R

  • RESPECT, everywhere and for everyone
  • SOCIALITY
  • PUNCTUALITY
  • SERIOUSNESS
  • RELIABILITY

These are the key words in the German work culture. In the hard reality, like the one we currently live in, finding a job is necessary. Berlin opens its door to everyone: youngsters, adults … the cultural differences and social denominations don’t matter to anybody here. With a city of 3,490 million inhabitants, it seems like it’s very easy to find a good job that is not only good for your professional and personal development, but offers you something more, like the possibility to become an important person, who contributes to the development of the society.

Being in Germany, it isn’t the same thing as being in Rome, Nairobi, Melfi or other metropol cities in the world. Such possibility means everything to people. A possibility that concerns not only your life or work, but everything. Happiness it’s not about making money, it’s about accomplishing your dreams. Work is a concatenation of passion, duties, but even pleasure. In this matter the situation in Italy it’s not like the one in Germany. In fact, in our home country there is a high percentage of unemployment, that creates inconveniences and difficulties within the society. In Italy, the mentality of the leadership obtains by ignoring the needs of the workers in order to make money as more as possible, neglecting the development of the country. Maybe someday the reality could change and we will finally live the life that we have always wished for. The task for our future is to make our dreams come true and thanks to the experience in this country, we have widen our horizons and we are now free from the closed mentality that we used to have before.
